WHITEFISH, Mont. — James Ekvall and Ashley Bruns are in custody following a burglary and vehicle theft incident on Monday morning in Whitefish.

According to Whitefish Police, one of the stolen vehicles was spotted in the East Edgewood area. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects reportedly fled the scene. A multi-agency response later led authorities to the Haskill Basin area, where the stolen vehicles were found abandoned.

Authorities say Ekvall and Bruns were located hiding nearby and arrested without incident. Both are currently being held in the Flathead County Detention Center pending formal charges.

Officials suspect that the pair may be involved in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts around the valley.
