Two Arrested in Bayboro Bank Fraud Case

Pamlico County deputies foil attempted large-scale theft

BAYBORO, N.C. — Two Morehead City residents were arrested Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, following reports of suspicious activity at the Wells Fargo Bank in Bayboro, according to the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said deputies responded to the bank after employees reported that two individuals were attempting to fraudulently access an account to withdraw a large sum of money. Deputies and investigators searched the surrounding area, identified the suspects, and took them into custody without incident.

The suspects were identified as:

Alexa Lowery, 24, charged with identity theft, felony larceny, felony conspiracy, obtaining property by false pretenses of $100,000 or more, resisting a public officer, and simple possession of marijuana. Her bond was set at $302,000 secured.

Shiheim Miller, 23, charged with identity theft, felony conspiracy, resisting a public officer, and simple possession of marijuana. His bond was $37,000 secured.

The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office thanked Wells Fargo personnel for their prompt action, noting that their cooperation helped prevent further financial loss.

Officials continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity to help law enforcement protect the community.
