In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested two suspects involved in a series of snatching incidents and vehicle thefts in the city. The arrested individuals, identified as Rahul (25), alias Akash, a fruit vendor, and Amrit (27), both residents of Dhanas, have been linked to multiple crimes.

The investigation began after Seema Rani of Sector 37 reported on February 22 that two scooter-borne miscreants snatched her phone while she was on her way to the market near her house. A case was filed at Sector 39 police station, leading to a thorough investigation.

A team from the District Crime Cell (DCC) eventually apprehended Rahul and Amrit. During their questioning, they admitted to the crime and Seema’s phone was recovered from their possession. Further interrogations led to the recovery of eight stolen mobile phones and five scooters that were taken during their theft spree across the city.

Police records reveal that Rahul has a robbery case from 2019, while Amrit is linked to four other cases in Chandigarh. Authorities continue to investigate their involvement in other thefts and snatching cases.

This arrest highlights the efforts of the local police in tackling street crimes, and they have urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities in the community.
