In a significant drug bust, the Thane police arrested two individuals after seizing hybrid ganja valued at Rs 22.28 lakh in the Shahad area of Thane district. The suspects, identified as Upendrasingh alias Goli Kamleshsingh Thakur (24) and Vishal Haresh Makhija (34), were arrested on Tuesday evening following a tip-off.
Police had been monitoring the area when they spotted the duo acting suspiciously. Upon searching them, authorities recovered 1.114 kg of hybrid ganja. Both suspects were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The investigation is currently focused on uncovering the source of the drugs and determining the intended buyers. The police are continuing their efforts to identify the drug trafficking network involved.
