The police have cracked the murder case of former principal Amarjeet Singh Sehaj, whose decomposed body was discovered in the Morni forest area of Panchkula on Monday. Authorities arrested two suspects: Bikram Singh of Sector 66A, Mohali, and Baljinder Singh Bhullar from Malout City, Sri Muktsar Sahib, currently residing in Zirakpur.
According to police reports, the motive behind the crime was ransom. The accused allegedly kidnapped Sehaj and demanded Rs 30–40 lakh from his family. When the family refused to pay, the suspects took Sehaj to Morni Hills, shot him with a licensed .30 bore pistol belonging to Bhullar, and dumped his body in the forest before fleeing.
The case surfaced when Rahul Sehaj, the son of the deceased, filed a missing person report on July 3 after his father left home with unknown individuals but never returned. The family’s efforts to find him proved futile, prompting police investigation.
SSP Harmandeep Hans formed multiple teams to trace Sehaj. The investigation progressed rapidly following information about a body found in the Morni forest, later identified as Amarjeet Singh Sehaj.
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to the crime, stating they were property dealers who planned the kidnapping for ransom. The police also recovered details of the vehicle and weapon used. The accused were presented before the local court, which granted a four-day police remand.
