Two men were arrested in Agra for allegedly beating a 28-year-old man, Asif Ali, to death following a dispute outside a liquor shop, police confirmed on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on September 15 when Asif Ali of Kutloopur was drinking with the accused, Chhotu alias Bhola from Rajpur Chungi and Udit from Himayupur, Firozabad. An argument escalated into violence, with the men reportedly striking Asif on the head with an iron rod before fleeing the scene, leaving him critically injured.
Asif, who worked at a meat shop and was the eldest son in his family, later died during treatment. His family has already faced tragedy, with one brother having died in an accident and another working as a daily wager.
Following a complaint filed by Asif’s father, Liaqat Ali, police registered a case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 309(5) (robbery) at Rakabganj police station. The accused were apprehended Tuesday evening.
Sadar ACP Hemant Kumar stated that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to the assault, revealing the fight began under the influence of alcohol.
