MORRISTOWN, OH — Two area residents were arrested in Morristown on Tuesday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs. Dakota Leasure, 30, of Belmont, and Terri Thomas, 26, of Powhatan Point, were both taken into custody on multiple felony charges.

The arrest came after the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped the vehicle they were in. During the stop, officers discovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Leasure and Thomas were allegedly seen attempting to destroy and conceal the drugs.

Both suspects now face serious charges, including trafficking and possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. They also face additional charges for tampering with evidence and attempting to bring drugs into a detention facility.

Leasure and Thomas are currently being held in the Belmont County Jail, each on a $65,000 bond.
