Two Arrested for ATM Tampering and Fraud in Wadi Area

Criminals Manipulated ATM to Steal Trapped Money

by Ananya Mehta

Two individuals have been arrested in the Wadi area for tampering with an ATM at an Axis Bank branch on Khadgaon Road. The criminals manipulated the machine to trap customers’ cash and later withdrew the money once the opportunity arose. The arrested men have been identified as Roshan (also known as Monty Samuel Verma) and Palash (also known as Gochya Rajendra Meshram), both from Imamwada.

The incident took place on February 24 when the accused used an aluminum strip to block the ATM’s cash dispenser, causing customers’ money to get stuck while trying to withdraw it. The criminals would then monitor the situation and retrieve the trapped money when customers left the machine, unaware of the fraud.

The police investigated the case after reviewing CCTV footage from the ATM, which clearly showed the involvement of the two accused. Acting quickly on this information, the police set a trap and arrested Roshan and Palash. Upon their arrest, the police seized items worth Rs70,700 from them.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are taking further action to ensure justice is served.
