Two Arrested for Army Jawan Akhilesh’s Murder

Soldier Killed Over Love Marriage Dispute in UP

by Ananya Mehta

Two men have been arrested in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, for the murder of 28-year-old Army jawan Akhilesh Chaudhary. Police said the soldier was allegedly shot dead due to his “love marriage” with a woman from the family of the accused.

The arrested individuals, identified as Bobby and Raja, are residents of Samadpur village under Sadabad police station. They were apprehended near Gori Gopal Dhaba at Kursanda Mod. Police also recovered two illegal country-made pistols, live cartridges, empty shells, and a car reportedly used in the crime.

The incident occurred on Thursday when Akhilesh, posted as a driver at an Army workshop in Agra, was returning to his base after attending a court hearing in Hathras. Near a cold storage on the Aligarh-Agra Road (NH 93), assailants arrived in a car and on a motorcycle and opened fire, killing him on the spot.

During interrogation, the arrested men reportedly admitted that the murder was motivated by an old enmity. They claimed that Akhilesh’s love marriage with a woman from their family caused social embarrassment, prompting them to plan the attack.

The jawan’s sister, Dolly Kumari, lodged a complaint at Sadabad police station, leading to the registration of an FIR. Five police teams were deployed to investigate, and Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha confirmed that legal action is underway and efforts continue to apprehend other accomplices.
