TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A former nursing home employee has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from over 20 residents, according to Steve Marshall.

Authorities say Tameko H. Green, 52, of Tuscaloosa, worked as the facility’s financial officer for 18 years, managing residents’ trust accounts used for daily personal needs.

An investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, following a referral from the Alabama Department of Public Health, determined that between January 2023 and September 2025, Green allegedly stole at least $3,500 from 25 residents.

Green has been charged with first-degree theft of property, a class B felony in Alabama punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $30,000.

She surrendered at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Monday, February 23, and was released on a $5,000 bond.
