In a shocking case of family violence, a 40-year-old man named Tulu Patra was found murdered in his house in Bhismagiri village under the Digapahandi police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Police arrested his relative, K Santosh Patra (32), for the murder, which reportedly stemmed from a long-standing family dispute.
According to SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M, the accused attacked Tulu with a baton while he was asleep on Sunday night. The victim died on the spot due to profuse bleeding.
The altercation allegedly began when Tulu did not invite Santosh to a puja ceremony at his house, further escalating existing tensions between their families. Santosh, who had returned from Surat about a month ago for a family ritual, acted out in rage following the argument.
In a separate incident the same day, another murder was reported from Brahmanapalli village under Chhatrapur police station limits. A 32-year-old man named A Lachheyya was allegedly beaten to death by unknown assailants. Inspector Debasish Mohanty stated that previous enmity may be the motive. Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
