CUMBERLAND, RI – Troy Stone, 39, of Cumberland, was arrested Friday in connection with multiple incidents of breaking and entering (B&E) at local businesses.
On January 22, Cumberland Police responded to a report of a B&E at With Heart and Soul, a boutique store located at 3751 Mendon Road. Business owners reported that the suspect broke into the store in the early hours and stole over $150,000 worth of merchandise.
After a thorough investigation, police identified Stone as the suspect and arrested him early Friday morning at his home on Mendon Road. Stone is believed to have committed similar break-ins at Khoury’s Tavern, Cumberland Farms, and One Stop Deli in the area, and he will be facing additional charges for those incidents.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Stone had an active warrant for his arrest from Connecticut, where he was wanted as a fugitive from justice. In addition to the breaking and entering and felony larceny charges, Stone will also face charges related to this fugitive status.
Stone has a lengthy criminal history, with multiple prior arrests in both Massachusetts and Connecticut for similar crimes, including B&E and larceny, along with other violent offenses.
According to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson, the investigation was a team effort involving detectives from various states and the Flock camera network, which played a vital role in apprehending Stone. Chief Benson stated, “This was an outstanding collective effort… and I’m proud to report that another felon is off of our streets and a small local business will see justice served.”
