A Troutman man was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly violating a pretrial release condition, stealing a patrol car, and leading law enforcement on a brief chase.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute call at a home on Skyuka Road on Sunday, February 2. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Bradley Gage Johnson, who had previously been arrested on charges related to domestic violence involving the same woman.
One of Johnson’s pretrial release conditions was to have no contact with the woman. However, deputies said she was visibly agitated and aggressively approached him. As part of their investigation, deputies placed her in the back of a patrol vehicle while they attempted to speak with Johnson.
At that point, Johnson allegedly ran away, forcibly entered the patrol vehicle, and drove off. Law enforcement initiated a pursuit that ended shortly after on Rolling Lane in Statesville. Johnson attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after.
The woman involved in the dispute was not injured during the incident.
Johnson now faces a range of charges, including felony second-degree kidnapping, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony larceny of a firearm, felony fleeing to elude arrest, and several others related to domestic violence, reckless driving, and law enforcement equipment theft.
He was denied bond following his arrest. More charges are expected as the investigation continues.
