Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have arrested a suspected armed bandit and uncovered a weapons cache in separate successful operations conducted in Kaduna and Plateau States.

On June 15, soldiers intercepted an alleged bandit in Katsit community, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The suspect was reportedly impersonating military personnel to rob residents. Recovered from him were an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, three live rounds, seven spent shells of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a fake vigilante ID card, a mobile phone, and two ATM cards. He is currently in custody and under investigation.

In a follow-up raid on June 16, troops stormed a suspected gunrunners’ hideout in Kwanar Lauje, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. Though the suspects fled before troops arrived, soldiers recovered significant arms and ammunition: an AK-47 rifle, magazine, rifle butt, 300 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a 9mm round, two 12.7mm rounds, and an abandoned motorcycle.

All recovered materials are secured, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the escaped suspects.
