WHITBY, Ontario — A 39-year-old Whitby man has been arrested and charged in connection with an August assault that left one person seriously injured.
According to Durham Regional Police, officers responded to a home near Annes Street and Jermyn Street, close to Dundas Street, on August 29 after receiving reports of an assault.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre for treatment.
Investigators later issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
On Tuesday, police confirmed that Tristan Kalijundic, 39, was taken into custody. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
Police did not release additional details about the motive or relationship between the suspect and the victim.
The investigation remains ongoing.
