In a swift and efficient operation, the Tripura police successfully solved a jewellery burglary case in Shiv Nagar, arresting four individuals within just four days of the crime.
Speaking to ANI, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East PS, Rana Chatterjee, shared the details of the case. The burglary had taken place at a residence in Shiv Nagar, and upon receiving the complaint, the police wasted no time. They quickly formed a specialized team to investigate the incident.
OC Chatterjee stated, “There was a burglary in a house in the Shiv Nagar area. We responded promptly, forming a team, and utilizing human intelligence and technology, we apprehended the thief within 4 days. After interrogations, we captured the remaining suspects.”
The total value of the stolen jewellery amounted to 340 grams, with an estimated worth of Rs 50 lakh. “Most of the stolen items have been recovered. All four thieves are currently under police remand, and the interrogation process is ongoing. We will soon recover the remaining items,” Chatterjee added.
In a separate incident, on March 25, the Tripura Police made another significant arrest at Agartala’s Jogendranagar railway station. Two individuals, identified as Rupesh Kumar Yadav and Pushpa Devi from Bihar, were apprehended with 36 kilograms of cannabis. The drugs, which had an estimated market value of Rs 4 lakh, were discovered in three pieces of luggage.
Additionally, on March 28, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted a narcotics smuggling attempt in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, seizing a substantial quantity of contraband items.
