Tripura Police conducted three major anti-narcotics crackdowns on Monday, seizing illegal drugs valued at over Rs 1.5 crore and arresting six drug peddlers.

In the largest haul, Kamalpur Police intercepted a truck bearing a West Bengal number plate (WB 11C-6078) at Durga Chowmuhani Naka point in Dhalai district. Acting on a tip-off, officers stopped the vehicle early Monday morning and recovered 310 kilograms of cannabis packed in 31 packets. The accused, Ravi Kumar from Bihar, was arrested at the scene. The cannabis is estimated to be worth around Rs 46 lakh. Police are interrogating Kumar to uncover the drug transportation network.

Simultaneously, in East Agartala, police raided the Lal Matia area of Maharajganj Market based on intelligence inputs. Four drug peddlers — Rajib Roy, Mithun Das, Rahul Roy, and Bimal Bardhan — were apprehended with 1,200 small vials of Brown Sugar, Rs 7,000 in cash, a mobile phone, a scooter, and a motorcycle. They were produced in court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for further investigation.

Later Monday night, Bishalgarh Police raided the home of Sirajul Islam in Ghaniyamara and seized 170 kilograms of dry cannabis. Islam, reportedly operating under the guise of a ruling party worker, was arrested and booked under the NDPS Act.

These operations highlight the ongoing efforts by Tripura Police to dismantle drug trafficking networks in the state.
