Two men from Tripura were arrested in connection with a house theft in Thiruvanmiyur, where 30 sovereigns of gold valued at Rs 20 lakh were stolen on April 7.
The victim, 44-year-old Sivasankari Prasad, had hired the suspects through an online portal to clean her bathroom. The suspects took advantage of their access to the home and stole the valuables while leaving the premises.
Upon receiving the complaint, Thiruvanmiyur police reviewed CCTV footage, conducted inquiries, and traced the suspects to recover the stolen gold.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Biden Mia and 28-year-old Liden Mia, were produced before a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
