A Mabank man was sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on charges of burglary of a habitation and 10 years for theft of property with previous convictions. The sentence was handed down on Monday by 392nd District Judge Scott McKee.
Walters’ charges stemmed from two theft incidents that occurred in 2023. On June 26, Walters stole an EGO Power+ leaf blower from a garage on S. Andrea Drive in Mabank, which was captured on Ring camera footage. Later, on June 20, Walters was identified as the thief behind the theft of two leaf blowers from a Gun Barrel City residence, which was also documented by surveillance cameras.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Bargmann highlighted Walters’ extensive criminal history, which includes prior convictions for burglary, theft, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance. Walters was also on parole at the time of the offenses. Additionally, Walters was ordered to pay restitution in both cases. His lengthy criminal record dates back to 2011.
