Travon Alexander Arrested for Murder of Joel Jenkins in Beaumont

Shooting stems from a dispute over a dominoes game

A 30-year-old man, Travon Alexander, has been arrested on charges of murder following the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Joel Jenkins in Beaumont. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 13, 2025.

According to Beaumont police, the shooting took place during a dispute over a dominoes game. Police received a report of shots fired at a residence on the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jenkins, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through an ongoing investigation, authorities identified Travon Alexander as the suspect. Witness statements revealed that the altercation began during a game of dominoes and escalated into violence, resulting in Alexander allegedly shooting Jenkins.

After being taken into custody, Alexander was brought in for questioning by Beaumont detectives and subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of murder.
