BIDDEFORD, Maine — A Lyman man with a history of criminal activity was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Arundel and abandoning it in Biddeford.
Travis Wakefield, 35, was taken into custody by York County Sheriff’s Deputies after reports of a suspicious person in the area led them to a stolen vehicle on Green Street in Biddeford.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a stolen vehicle in Arundel and were told by a nearby resident that Wakefield had shown up at his home asking for a ride. Soon after, a friend of the vehicle’s owner spotted the stolen car in Biddeford and notified authorities.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Wakefield walking away from the stolen vehicle. He was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Authorities say Wakefield had a suspended driver’s license and was under active bail conditions related to multiple previous arrests. He is currently being held without bail.
Wakefield’s criminal record includes a 2021 arrest by Maine State Police on an outstanding burglary warrant. According to Recently Booked, he was also arrested in May 2025 on charges including operating under the influence, theft, and obstruction of justice, although that report has not been independently verified.
