Henry County Narcotics Unit Seizes Heroin, Methamphetamine, Firearms in Connection to Ongoing Investigation

by Sophia Bennett

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — A traffic stop initiated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Interdiction Unit on February 13, 2025, led to a dramatic sequence of events resulting in multiple arrests, the seizure of narcotics, and the discovery of firearms.

At approximately 4:00 PM, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Donavan Nibblett, but the driver failed to pull over, leading to a vehicle pursuit. The chase, which lasted about three miles, ended on Stockton Road. Nibblett then fled on foot but was quickly tracked down by a Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) K-9 to a nearby residence on Willow Court.

After his apprehension, Nibblett was found to be in possession of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. The discovery prompted investigators to link the pursuit to an ongoing narcotics investigation at a residence located at 2145 Mt. Olivet Road in Martinsville.

This intelligence led to the execution of a search warrant later that evening. At 8:15 PM, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed the warrant, seizing a quantity of suspected heroin, as well as multiple firearms and ammunition. The operation also resulted in the arrest of four additional individuals.
