PELHAM, Ala. — Pelham Police arrested three suspects following a high-speed chase that began after a reported theft at Harbor Freight and ended in Tuscaloosa County.

On July 29, an employee at Harbor Freight notified authorities about a theft. Officers soon spotted a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled, triggering a multi-agency pursuit.

With assistance from neighboring police departments, the chase was brought to a halt in Tuscaloosa County using spike strips. The driver surrendered immediately, while the two passengers fled on foot but were quickly apprehended.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Detectives confirmed all stolen items were recovered and returned to Harbor Freight.

Tracy Loriot, 57, of Gardendale, faces charges including attempting to elude police and third-degree theft of property. Lewis Ferguson, 29, of Midfield, and Phillip Lackey, 37, of Birmingham, are charged with third-degree theft of property.

Authorities noted that Lackey was hospitalized after allegedly swallowing a bag containing an unknown quantity of fentanyl during the arrest.
