The Khargone police have arrested four individuals, including a tractor showroom owner, in connection with the murder of Chetan Amodkar, a 32-year-old youth from Nagpur, whose body was found near a forest in Chainpur on May 6.
According to Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena, the main accused, Sawant alias Ritesh Patil, allegedly plotted the contract killing after Chetan discovered his affair with a female employee at his Burhanpur-based showroom. Both Patil and Amodkar worked at the same establishment.
Police said Patil hired two men — Khum Singh Tadole and Chandan Jamre — offering them Rs1 lakh each to kill Amodkar. Another accomplice, Sanjay Dabar, has also been arrested for his involvement.
As per the investigation, the group lured Amodkar into a forested area under the Chainpur police station and strangled him using a towel. His body was found near a forest nursery along with his parked motorcycle.
The woman linked to the affair has not been found to have any involvement in the murder so far, police clarified.
Further investigations are ongoing to verify any additional links or motives.
