Tracey McDowell Arrested for Theft During Probation Service at Marlboro County Humane Society
Marlboro County, SC – A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing from the Humane Society of Marlboro County while serving court-ordered probation, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Tracey McDowell was charged with breach of trust following a report from the shelter’s director, who alerted deputies after surveillance footage showed McDowell stealing items from the office.
The incident was captured on camera and submitted to investigators as part of the formal complaint.
McDowell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center, where she awaited a bond hearing. She was later released on a $1,000 personal recognizance (PR) bond.
The sheriff’s office has not released additional details about what was stolen or how long McDowell had been serving her probation at the shelter.
The investigation remains ongoing.
