Toronto police have identified Paulin Harusha, 43, as the city’s 31st homicide victim this year following a shooting in North York over the weekend.

Authorities are searching for 34-year-old Meelad Tarin, who has been issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for first-degree murder in connection with the case. The shooting occurred near Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East shortly before midnight on Saturday, September 13.

Detective Sergeant Alan Bartlett urged Tarin to turn himself in and warned that anyone assisting him will face investigation and charges. Police confirmed that the victim and suspect were somewhat familiar, but details remain under investigation.

At this time, officers are not looking for any additional suspects but remain open to new leads. Bartlett expressed sympathy for Harusha’s family, stating that the loss has left a significant impact on them and assuring the public that police are committed to seeking justice.
