Two people have been arrested following a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Brunswick County.
On September 10, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Vice and Narcotics Unit, supported by the Special Operations Unit, conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrests of 30-year-old Tori Wayland and 46-year-old Brian Berry.
According to BCSO, the vehicle—driven by Berry with Wayland as a passenger—was found to contain 170 grams (approximately six ounces) of methamphetamine.
Following the stop, agents executed a search warrant at Berry’s home, where they seized additional narcotics and a handgun. In total, BCSO reported the following were confiscated:
182.93 grams of methamphetamine
48.46 grams of marijuana
15.3 grams of cocaine
1 handgun
Charges against Tori Wayland include:
Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine
Trafficking in methamphetamine
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver (PWIMSD) Schedule II controlled substance
Felony possession of cocaine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Brian Berry is facing the following charges:
Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine
Two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine
Maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance
PWIMSD Schedule II controlled substance
PWIMSD cocaine
PWIMSD marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Possession of a firearm by a felon
BCSO said the investigation began following community tips and complaints, highlighting the importance of public involvement in addressing local drug activity.
The investigation remains ongoing.
