A man and woman were arrested Thursday in Shawnee County following a dramatic pursuit on Wednesday in connection with mail theft and multiple offenses. The suspects, identified as Jeannie R. Moss, 47, and Jason W. Pobjoy, 48, both of Topeka, were apprehended after a series of events.

The incident began around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, when authorities received a report of a suspicious vehicle going through mailboxes near S.E. 85th Street and Berryton Road. The vehicle, a dark blue Chrysler Pacifica minivan, was spotted by a sheriff’s sergeant at 2:25 p.m. on S.W. University Boulevard.

The driver, later identified as Moss, attempted to flee the scene, leading officers on a pursuit that ended when the vehicle entered a golf course and hit a fence. The chase was brought to a safe stop with the help of a K-9 unit performing a “controlled vehicle intervention maneuver.”

Moss was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including theft of mail, fleeing law enforcement, operating a vehicle without a valid license, and more. Additionally, she was found to have a felony probation violation warrant and an arrest warrant for forgery and theft.

Pobjoy, the passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested and charged with mail theft and possession of stolen property.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather information regarding the thefts and the pair’s activities.
