Davenport, Iowa — A 54-year-old woman from Davenport, identified as Tonda Watson-Driscoll, has been arrested and charged with forgery and theft after police say she stole checks from a victim, forged the victim’s signature, and cashed one of the checks.
According to the criminal complaint, Watson-Driscoll stole two checks from the victim’s checkbook while inside the victim’s home. On March 6, around 2:28 p.m., Watson-Driscoll allegedly forged the victim’s signature and cashed one of the stolen checks at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union. The check, made out for $350, was filled out in the name “Tundai Driscoll,” and Watson-Driscoll signed both the forged signature on the check and her own name on the back when cashing it.
A warrant for Watson-Driscoll’s arrest was issued on April 5, and she was taken into custody on April 8. She has been charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor fourth-degree theft. Watson-Driscoll was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 29, according to court records.
