BREMEN, GA — A 54-year-old Bremen man, Tommy Smith, has been arrested following an investigation into child sexual abuse material allegedly uploaded through the KIK messaging app.
The investigation began on July 3, when Investigator Nicole Wilson of the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office received a Cybertip via the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) portal.
The Cybertip detailed six uploads of explicit child content, all traced to a single KIK account. Further investigation linked the account to Smith’s residence.
On Monday, investigators executed a search warrant at Smith’s home, where they discovered 11 electronic devices. Smith was subsequently arrested.
He is currently facing:
Six counts of distributing obscene material
Six counts of sexual exploitation of children
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say additional charges may be forthcoming as digital evidence is reviewed.
Law enforcement urges the public to report any suspicious online activity involving minors through appropriate cybercrime reporting channels.
