Bengaluru – Kadugodi police have arrested two men in connection with a series of house thefts across the city. The main accused, Srinivas, a tomato vendor from Varthur, would identify locked houses during his sales rounds. He then broke into these homes at night along with his accomplice, Kiran.
The police launched a crackdown after a homeowner from Patalamma Layout reported the theft of 27 grams of gold jewellery on August 24.
Srinivas was apprehended on September 16 from Sorahunase village near Varthur, and later that day, Kiran was arrested near his residence in Varthur.
According to police sources, the duo had passed the stolen jewellery to a friend. Acting on this lead, authorities recovered 82.5 grams of gold ornaments and valuables worth around Rs8.25 lakh on September 17.
With their arrests, the police have successfully solved nine house theft cases. Investigations are ongoing to track down any additional accomplices or stolen property.
