Las Vegas, NV — A senior Israeli cybersecurity official, Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, was arrested in Las Vegas after attempting to meet a minor for sex, according to U.S. authorities. He was one of eight men caught in a police sting operation aimed at apprehending online predators.
Alexandrovich, who works as a division head at the Israel National Cyber Directorate, was in Las Vegas attending the Black Hat cybersecurity conference when he allegedly engaged in online conversations with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. The “girl” was actually an undercover officer with the Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
According to police records, Alexandrovich brought a condom and Cirque du Soleil tickets to the meeting. Upon arrest, he claimed he thought he was meeting an 18-year-old, though chat transcripts reportedly prove otherwise.
