In a swift police action, Tinku Poddar, a resident of Bakhri, Begusarai, was arrested on Thursday for committing ATM card swap fraud under the jurisdiction of Pandarak police station, Patna district.
The incident took place in Mamrakhabad village, where a man named Pappu Kumar was withdrawing money from an ATM. According to Barh ASP Rakesh Kumar, Tinku distracted Pappu and cleverly swapped his ATM card, having already observed the entered PIN.
After the fraudulent withdrawal, Pappu immediately alerted the police. Acting quickly, the authorities apprehended Tinku near the ATM, recovering nine ATM cards and a mobile phone from him.
Tinku is no stranger to fraud cases — he reportedly has a previous ATM-related case registered against him in Munger. Following his arrest, he was placed in judicial custody.
The police are now investigating whether Tinku is linked to a broader financial scam network operating across districts.
