CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — Two people were arrested Wednesday after Clovis Police discovered stolen mail and illegal items following a tip from Walmart employees.
According to police, store employees alerted officers to two individuals who were seen concealing merchandise inside the Walmart. Officers waited outside and detained both suspects in the parking lot.
During the search, police found a stash of stolen mail, fraudulent documents, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools in the suspects’ possession and vehicle.
Officers also recovered a handmade U.S. Postal Service key, which along with the stolen mail, has been turned over to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for further investigation.
The suspects, 30-year-old Tina Delgado and 33-year-old David Heu, were both booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, drugs, and tools for committing burglary.
Police added that David Heu was already wanted on a felony warrant and is currently on probation for identity theft.
Authorities continue to investigate whether the suspects are connected to a larger mail theft operation.
