Men arrested in separate child sexual exploitation cases

by Amelia Crawford

West Columbia, SC (WOLO) — South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of two men involved in the Sexual Exploitation of Minors following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip led authorities to Timothy McCullough, 68, of West Columbia, and John Krayton, 50, of Lexington, who were arrested for separate offenses.

The arrests were made by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. McCullough was taken into custody on February 26, 2025, and charged with five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in the third degree. He faces up to 10 years in prison for each count.

Krayton, arrested on the same day, was charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, also in the third degree. He could face a maximum of 10 years in prison for this charge.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will be prosecuting both cases as they work to hold the offenders accountable.
