MOOSE JAW — A 63-year-old Moose Jaw man is facing multiple criminal charges following a lengthy investigation into a large-scale online scam that targeted victims across Canada.
The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) announced the arrest of Timothy Hollinger, who is accused of operating a fraudulent online loan scheme that tricked victims into sending money via e-transfers and wire transfers.
According to MJPS, the investigation began in 2024 through the department’s Criminal Investigation Section (CIS). On August 29, a search warrant was executed at Hollinger’s residence as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Hollinger has been charged with:
Fraud over $5,000
Fraud under $5,000
Money laundering
Police allege that victims believed they were applying for legitimate loans through websites tied to the scam, but were instead defrauded of significant amounts of money.
Hollinger appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on September 2 and has been remanded into custody. His next court date is set for September 5.
