GOGEBIC COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) – A Gogebic County jury has found 56-year-old Timothy John Christensen of Ironwood guilty of cocaine-related charges stemming from a January incident in Bessemer Township.
Christensen was convicted on charges of cocaine possession and use, according to Gogebic County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jacobs. The case was prosecuted with a single witness — Deputy Adam Zak of the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department, who also served as the arresting officer.
The jury delivered its verdict in less than 30 minutes.
Due to Christensen’s status as a habitual offender, the possession charge was elevated from a four-year felony to a six-year maximum sentence. The use of cocaine charge is classified as a one-year misdemeanor.
Following the guilty verdict, Christensen’s bond was revoked. He remains in custody while awaiting sentencing, pending completion of a presentence investigation report.
