In a major breakthrough in Delhi’s ongoing gang war, the police have arrested Manjeet alias Dada, a key member of the Tillu Tajpuriya gang, in Sarojini Nagar following a brief exchange of gunfire. Manjeet was wanted for the murder of Karan Thapa, an associate of the Gogi gang, in Alipur earlier this year.
The arrest comes months after the March 28 murder of Karan Thapa, who was gunned down in Nehru Enclave, Alipur, by bike-borne shooters. Thapa, a known history-sheeter and close aide of the Gogi gang, succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Following the incident, Delhi Police launched a manhunt. Investigations confirmed the murder was linked to the long-standing rivalry between the Tillu Tajpuriya and Gogi gangs, both involved in violent turf wars across Delhi and Haryana.
Manjeet, along with Neeraj and Himanshu, was identified as one of the three shooters. Himanshu, who conducted the initial reconnaissance, had already been arrested, while Manjeet and Neeraj had been on the run.
Police said during the operation in Sarojini Nagar, Manjeet opened fire but was overpowered. A pistol with three live cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to track down Neeraj and other associates involved in the murder.
