Sahibabad police have arrested four men, recently released from Tihar jail, for a series of burglaries targeting residential homes and jewellery shops in the city.
Series of Thefts
The gang reportedly carried out multiple burglaries between February 1 and 5:
Feb 1: Broke into a bungalow in Raj Nagar, stealing a locker containing documents and a passport. The homeowner, Ashwani Chaudhary, lodged a complaint at Kavi Nagar police station.
Feb 5: Attempted break-ins at two jewellery showrooms on Ambedkar Road. Neighbours noticed the activity and alerted police before the gang could steal anything.
Same night: Stole gold, silver, and cash from a locked flat in SPS Apartment Society, escaping in a white Ertiga.
Investigation and Arrests
Using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts describing seven men, police traced the gang. On Tuesday, a crime branch team arrested:
Roshan Yadav (26)
Nimish Aggarwal (34)
Raghu Kumar (42)
Aman Saxena (28)
During questioning, Nimish Aggarwal revealed he previously worked at one of the jewellery stores and, after being dismissed and jailed, regrouped with former inmates to commit the burglaries.
Some stolen gold jewellery has been recovered, and police are actively searching for other gang members.
