Tiffany Vo Sentenced to Prison for Amazon Fraud Scheme

Defrauded Amazon of over $483,000 through fake invoices

by Sophia Bennett

Tiffany Vo, a 37-year-old from Denver, has been sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison for defrauding her employer, Amazon. Following her prison term, she will serve three years of supervised release and must pay $483,393.58 in restitution.

Vo, who worked for Amazon from the summer of 2020 to June 2022, was responsible for overseeing virtual employee programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. During her employment, she orchestrated a scheme involving the submission of false invoices and expense reports, claiming reimbursement for non-existent corporate events. This fraudulent activity led to a significant financial loss for the company.

Matt Kirsch, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado, stated, “White-collar crimes like this one have far-reaching impacts on corporate entities, consumers, and taxpayers. We will continue to pursue those who exploit their positions for personal gain.”

The stolen funds were used by Vo to maintain a lavish lifestyle, including buying designer goods, two vehicles, and other luxury items, while making payments on her condominium.

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek added, “Instead of working for her employer, this defendant worked against them. Over her scheme, she stole nearly $500,000 to live extravagantly.” He commended the FBI’s complex financial crimes squad for their diligence in uncovering Vo’s embezzlement activities.
