Thumba police arrested two individuals, Ananthu (29) of Panayil Veedu, Pangappara, and Arya (27) of Anjima Bhavan, Chadayamangalam, identified as key links in a drug racket during a raid at a hotel in Attipra on Sunday.
The duo had been staying at the hotel for two days when hotel staff became suspicious of frequent visits by young men and women to their room and alerted the police.
During the raid, police seized 10 grams of MDMA, stored in small packets concealed in a woman’s hair. According to police, the drugs were supplied from Bengaluru by other members of the racket.
The accused were remanded after being produced before court on charges under Section 22 (c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985.
Officials said they seized the accused’s mobile phones, and are currently examining call records and chat histories to uncover further connections within the racket. The police confirmed the racket transports drugs in large quantities from Bengaluru for distribution in the region. The suspects will undergo detailed interrogation, and authorities are investigating if the accused have previous NDPS-related cases.
