by Sophia Bennett

FLUVANNA COUNTY, VA – A brazen attempt to smuggle a large quantity of illegal drugs into the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women has led to the arrest of three women from Roanoke and Pearisburg.

Consquela S. Lester of Roanoke, and Jennifer K. Robbins and Courtney P. Snidow of Pearisburg have been charged with attempting to bring more than $80,000 worth of contraband into the facility. The women were attempting to visit inmates on January 18 when corrections officers seized approximately 100 Buprenorphine and Naloxone strips, valued at around $80,000.

The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) has charged the women with delivery of drugs to an inmate, and manufacturing, selling, or distributing a controlled substance. Robbins faces an additional charge for delivery of drugs to an inmate.

The VADOC has confirmed that additional charges are pending against two current inmates involved in the attempted smuggling operation.

Director Chad Dotson commended the officers’ actions, stating, “Their dedication to keeping our facilities drug and contraband free is essential to our public safety mission.” He also encouraged anyone with information about smuggling attempts to come forward.

The successful interdiction of the drugs underscores the importance of vigilance in preventing illicit activities within correctional facilities. Anyone with information regarding contraband smuggling is urged to contact VADOC authorities at (540) 830-9280.
