POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WFIE) — Three Venezuelan nationals living in Chicago have been arrested in Posey County after deputies caught them stealing from a Crane Credit Union ATM early Monday morning, according to Sheriff Tom Latham.

Authorities say the incident began around 2:30 a.m. when deputies were alerted to an ATM alarm at the Crane Credit Union on St. Wendel-Cynthiana Road.

The Vanderburgh County K9 Unit and Evansville Police drones assisted in the search. One suspect, 21-year-old Marcos Daniel Rodriguez Sanchez, was located and apprehended after a drone spotted him near the area.

During the ongoing investigation, deputies stopped a vehicle connected to the theft and detained two more suspects: 24-year-old Deneiker Ramon Sanchez Bracho and 25-year-old Edison J. Inozoa Navarro, both Venezuelan nationals.

Authorities say evidence of theft was found inside the suspects’ vehicle. All three men were booked into the Posey County Jail and charged with Theft. They are being held without bond.

The Crane Credit Union confirmed that no customer data was compromised during the incident.

Sheriff Tom Latham praised the teamwork between agencies, stating:

“This is a prime example of how agencies work diligently together for the best possible outcome. While there are jurisdictional lines, they disappear when it comes to community safety.”

He added that the case underscores broader concerns about illegal immigration and its impact on local communities.
