SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a series of retail thefts spanning across Southern California. The Irvine Police Department identified the suspects as Jaylaine Stewart, 21, of Long Beach; Derryon Burks, 25, of Los Angeles; and Turll Patrick Watson, 31, of Los Angeles.
The trio’s crime spree began on March 31, when they targeted a Grocery Outlet store. According to authorities, a female suspect distracted an employee while a male suspect stole medication from the store shelves. The third suspect was waiting in a getaway car. When the employee attempted to confront the suspects, the male suspect shoved the worker and fled the scene.
Following the incident, Irvine police began investigating the theft and were later able to spot the suspects in Oceanside, where they allegedly committed another theft. After taking all three into custody, officers discovered a large amount of stolen property inside their vehicle, including health and beauty products, medications, and other goods.
Investigators determined that the group was responsible for at least five other retail thefts that took place earlier that day across Orange and San Diego counties. The suspects have been charged with robbery, conspiracy, and organized retail theft.
They were booked into the Orange County Jail, where they await further proceedings.
