Three salesmen working for a government foreign wine placement agency in Jharkhand were arrested after they were caught embezzling Rs 45 lakh from the agency’s sale proceeds. Initially, the trio had stolen the money over time, which was supposed to be credited to the Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Ltd.

The three individuals, identified as Randheer, Vikas, and Abhay, were part of the agency located in the Hussainabad police subdivision. In an attempt to cover up their original theft, they staged a fake theft scenario during an inspection by the Excise Superintendent, S K Deo, on January 9. They tried to convince the authorities that the money and the cash locker had been stolen by thieves.

However, the Hussainabad police, led by SDPO S Mohammad Yakub, saw through their deception. The police not only uncovered the fake theft but also discovered the original embezzlement of Rs 45 lakh. The investigation revealed that the salesmen had plotted this cover-up with the help of two accomplices, Bipin and Pankaj.

As a result, Randheer, Vikas, Abhay, Bipin, and Pankaj were all arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Charges were filed under Section 310 of the BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
