Three Nigerians Convicted and Jailed for Vehicle Theft in Kumasi

Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, Russell Ekenze sentenced for theft

KUMASI, Ghana — The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the conviction and sentencing of three Nigerian nationals arrested for stealing from parked vehicles in Kumasi.

Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze were arrested on June 20, 2025, and arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on July 22. Russell pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor.

Francis and Linus pleaded not guilty but were found guilty by Circuit Court 3 on July 23. Each was sentenced to eight years on two counts, with sentences to run concurrently. On the same day, Circuit Court 1 sentenced all three men to 20 years imprisonment on two counts, also to run concurrently.

The following day, Circuit Court 2 gave Russell an additional 10-year sentence on two counts, to run concurrently with his previous sentence.

All three convicts are currently serving their sentences at Kumasi Central Prison.

The Ashanti Regional Police emphasized that the convictions demonstrate their commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring justice is served. The police also urged the public to report suspicious activities promptly to help prevent crime in the region.
