Keonjhar police have arrested three more individuals in connection with the Rs 2 crore jewellery store robbery in Harichandanpur main market, raising the total number of arrests to six.
The newly arrested suspects are Ajit Patnaik from Kendrapada, Indramani Mohanta from Jajpur, and Budhadeb Mohanta from Keonjhar. Earlier, Biki Patra and Jagu Patra from Kendrapada and Jagannath Ghadei from Cuttack had been taken into custody.
According to Ghatagaon SDPO Bijay Kumar Mahapatra and IIC of Harichandanpur police station Devaki Naik, a group of armed miscreants stormed the jewellery store on June 25, threatening the owner and employees before fleeing with gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 crore.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered, though their total value is yet to be confirmed. Police seized a mobile phone and two motorcycles abandoned on Bhagamunda road, which led to the identification and arrest of the accused. In total, three mobile phones and three motorcycles have been recovered so far.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining culprits involved in the robbery.
