Three Men Held in Vasant Kunj Burglary Spree

Cops bust gang using forest patches, clean records to escape

by Ananya Mehta

Delhi police have arrested three men in connection with a series of burglaries in the Vasant Kunj area, following multiple complaints over the past two months. The gang allegedly used forest patches for nighttime escape and involved associates with clean police records to evade detection.

According to DCP (South West) Amit Goel, the first reported incident occurred on the night of October 17-18, 2025, in an apartment, where Rs 10,000 cash and an imported torch were stolen. On October 26, a burglary at Sai Baba Temple, D-7 resulted in the theft of Rs 80,000 cash, a 10-gram silver coin, a silver plate, and other valuables. Two more burglary attempts on November 10 and 19 indicated a possible gang operation.

Police investigation involved scanning over 150 CCTV cameras and questioning more than 60 known burglars linked to previous incidents. Using sustained technical surveillance and local intelligence, the police identified and arrested the accused:

Gaurav alias Rinku

Sunil alias Rabban

Md. Salim

The gang conducted reconnaissance of areas near forest patches adjoining residential blocks, ensuring quick access and escape. They frequently used Sunil’s car and involved an associate with no prior criminal record to avoid fingerprint matching and identification.

Police said the arrests mark a significant step in curbing organized residential burglary in the Vasant Kunj area, and further investigation is ongoing to determine whether the gang was involved in other thefts across Delhi.
