Three Men Arrested in Illegal IPL Betting Racket in Calangute

Madhya Pradesh Men Held for Running Online Betting during IPL Match

On Tuesday, Calangute police arrested three men from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly running an illegal online/mobile IPL betting racket. The arrests were made after a tip-off about betting activities during the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans.

The police raided a flat in Baga on Monday evening, where they caught Ankit Rathore (34), Badal (32), and Ajay (32) from Madhya Pradesh while they were accepting bets. During the raid, authorities seized a laptop and seven mobile phones, which were valued at approximately Rs 1.1 lakh.

The accused have been charged under Sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman, and Diu Public Gambling (GDDPG) Act, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are now probing further details regarding the operation and the scope of the illegal betting activities.
