Three Men Arrested for Cable Theft Under Omaha Bridge

Police Catch Suspects Cutting Lines on New Year’s Eve

OMAHA, Neb. — Three men are beginning the new year behind bars after being arrested for allegedly stealing cable beneath a bridge in Omaha.

According to an Omaha Police Department report, a CenturyLink representative observed three men under the Blondo Street bridge at 117th Street on the morning of New Year’s Eve using ladders and cutting tools. The activity was spotted through a monitoring camera.

When officers arrived, they reportedly saw one of the suspects standing on a ladder while cutting pipes with a reciprocating saw beneath the bridge.

Cirino Caniglia, 54, and Jerry Hall, 56, both of Omaha, along with 60-year-old Mark Kurtz of Council Bluffs, were arrested at the scene. All three are charged with theft exceeding $5,000, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.
